CAN GENERATION Y AND THE BABY BOOMERS HAVE A GREAT MARRIAGE?
When I work in Organisations, I often witness that Baby Boomers are frustrated with Generation Y who work with them in the same organisation.
‘They’re always on Facebook or some other media.’ the Baby Boomer exclaims
‘They think they know everything.’ others will say.
‘They’re lazy and don’t do their jobs properly.’ some retort.
What is really happening here is two generations trying to work together, as a team, to get the job properly done. Neither is better than the other, just different.
So if you work with a baby boomer or a generation Y person, stop judging. Find ways to work together. Ensure everybody knows what their role is and what they have to achieve, then let everybody do it in their own way.
My advice to Boomers is to learn from them. They have a great deal to teach you. To Generation Y, I encourage you to keep an open mind and learn from Boomers. They know a great deal.
Can they both have a great marriage? Absolutely! Acceptance, working together and accepting differences are the keys.
